iMIS Desktop Showing Wrong Version

IMIS 2017

The iMIS Desktop mismatch error could be related to folder's permissions as indicated here:

"The LBR and df1 files are only copied to the VirtualStore if the user does not have 'Write' access to the files.  It is important to remove/purge the VirtualStore folder and subfolders created in the following sample path"

C:\Users<WindowsUser>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ASI\Imis

To resolve this concern, follow all the steps as indicated below:

1) On the affected workstation, go to (Control Panel's Programs and Features). Or Windows Start Menu > Click on the Search\Magnifier option, and type: run. In the run dialog box type: appwiz.cpl  - This will take you to the Control Panel's Programs and Features.

(a) Validate what is the iMIS version shown in add and remove programs.
(b) Check iMIS version on asi.dll. Right click > Properties > Details tab.
(c) Asi.dll file is typically located in this sample path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\ASI\iMIS\Net\bin

Note: Be sure the iMIS Versions are consistent in workstations, iMIS App Server and Terminal Server if there is one with the iMIS Desktop installed.

2) Purge the: "VirtualStore"  for any Windows' User that contains it. This is the sample path associated for the affected windows users login name. Sample path:

C:\Users\<WindowsUser>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ASI\Imis

In this screen capture, the VirtualStore does not show up.

Note: Please, check the above path on both the workstation, and the iMIS Appserver and Terminal Server if there is one with iMIS Desktop installed.

3) Ensure the iMIS App\Web Server instance folder has appropriate permissions for your iMIS folder. This also applies for workstations and terminal servers where iMIS Desktop is installed.

(a) In this sample path (C:\ Program Files (x86)\ASI\Imis) right click on the Imis instance folder. If it is named: Imis_Dev > Right Click > Properties > Click Security.

(b) Users Group must have (read, write and execute). Write permission is typically unchecked, and often overlooked. Please, put a check mark for Write permission.

See screen capture at the end of this article. Also be sure to apply this permissions in the iMIS App server, workstation and terminal server if there is one.

4) Apply the following two ICACLS Permissions: From the command Prompt ruining as admin apply appropriate permissions on (iMIS App\Web server, Workstations, and Terminal Server if there is one).

In the Imis App Server:

ICACLS "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASI\iMIS\Net" /t /grant "Network Service":F
ICACLS "c:\Program Files (x86)\ASI\iMIS" /t /grant "Users":M

In Workstation or Terminal Servers where iMIS Desktop is being installed:

ICACLS "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASI\iMIS" /t /grant "Network Service":F
ICACLS "c:\Program Files (x86)\ASI\iMIS" /t /grant "Users":M

5) Test your iMIS Desktop again by opening it as administrator. Right click and run as admin. Sign in with the Manager credentials, and ensure the imis version now matches with the version shown in the control panel (Programs & Features)
